30 Nov 2009. IPC HDS. IPC’s new antibacterial plastic
The only one to obtain ISO 22196:2007

Bacteria proliferate exponentially in certain environmental conditions, forming colonies and producing substances toxic and dangerous for man. To guarantee a hygienic environment and protect health, this proliferation should be kept under control.
The research of IPC Group companies IPC Euromop and IPC Soteco has led to development of the technologically most advanced material in the field, the exclusive IPC HDS TM, able to drastically reduce the bacterial load present on surfaces, limiting the consequences of its spread in the environment through direct or cross contamination as could occur, for example, when moving an object (such as a cleaning trolley) from one environment to another.
The development of antibacterial treatments during the plasticization process, developed first by IPC Euromop and presented by Sergio Cervellin the IPC Euromop president during the press conference at Pulire 2009 ( link press conference Pulire ), has enabled a suite of products made from antibacterial materials to be produced specifically for environments where hygiene is fundamental, from the health sector to schools, from transport to public areas in general.
IPC Euromop’s products for sanitisation made from HDS (HealthCare Disinfection Suite) plastic include equipment such as trolleys, frames, mops, dispensers and containers, while IPC Soteco produce specific machines such as the Ecospital vacuum cleaner.
IPC HDS TM plastic is the first of its kind, the only one to obtain ISO 22196:2007 (Plastics – Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics surfaces) certification for these uses.
